What Blippit Meds is

Blippit Meds is a fluid stewardship decision support tool for qualified healthcare professionals. It guides you through the NICE Clinical Guideline CG174 intravenous fluid therapy decision tree to support consistent, guideline-adherent decision making in adult inpatient settings.

This tool supports decision making. It does not replace clinical judgement. Its output informs, but does not replace, the clinical assessment, judgement and responsibility of the prescribing clinician.

Blippit Meds v3 is software intended for use as a Class I medical device under the UK Medical Devices Regulations 2002 (as amended). Registration with the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency is in progress. Blippit Meds v3 is not yet placed on the UK market and is currently in controlled evaluation with a partner NHS Trust.

Common questions

Why can I not sign in?

Sign-in uses a single-use link sent to your work email address, so there is no password to remember. Your Trust must have been set up on Blippit Meds and your email domain recognised. If the link does not arrive, check your junk folder first. If it still does not work, contact your Trust administrator.

Where do the fluid names and IV medicines come from?

Your Trust configures them. The fluid names, the IV medicines list with its dose bands and infusion volumes, the weight caps, and the wording of the clinical advisories are all set by your Trust administrator rather than by us. We are responsible for the calculation logic and for the NICE CG174 pathway the tool follows.

Does it work offline?

An open session continues to work if the connection drops, and the header shows a connection indicator. Reloading the page while offline will return you to the sign-in screen.

Something looks wrong. Who should I tell?

Tell your Trust administrator first, since most of the content shown is configured by your Trust. For anything that looks like a fault in the tool itself, contact us using the details below. If you believe a patient may have been affected, follow your Trust's incident reporting process.

Accessibility

We assess Blippit Meds against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 at Level AA, and we record what has and has not been tested rather than claiming blanket conformance.
